Rathfriland Prices top at 900gns
The NI Texel Sheep Breeders Club held their annual Bank Holiday
show and sale in Rathfriland Mart when trade for
quality lots was the order of the day.
Prices topped at 900gns
for the last ram into the ring, bred by Naomi Ardis from the Milburn
flock this super lamb had previously been placed first in his class
by judge Geoff Fleck, a Muckish Platinum son he joins the Cookstown
flock of Jim Elliott. Also travelling from Cookstown, Philip Hammond,
Tullylagan flock, had a successful evening achieving second highest
price in the ram lamb ring with a Kelso Photo Finish son making
450gns.

Local man Herbie Magowan, Clanrye, saw good trade for his
pen with the top shearling price of 750gns for a Fairmount Lancelot
son. A half brother of this tip, placed fifth in his class, realised
650gns with a Clinterty Las Vegas son from the same pen making
500gns. The Clanrye flock also returned 400gns for a Crommelin
Hill bred ram lamb, while yet another local man, Murray Annett
realised 370, 350 and 320 for his pen.

Show, Geoff Fleck picked his Champion from the pen of Barclay Bell
and Sons, a Ballydonaghy Nijinsky son placed first in the shearling
class, he later sold to 460gns through the ring. The Reserve Champion,
also from the shearling class, shown by Jim Wilson, Blackstown
and bred by James Smyth, Forthill exchanged hands for 470gns
