Young Members Bowling Event
The Scottish Texel Sheep Breeders Club held an open ten pin
bowling night on the 20th of January 2012. All young members
and friends were especially encouraged to come along and register
their interest in being part of a young Scottish Texel Club and
make this ten pin bowling evening the first of many events for
the next generation. [more]
Scottish Club In-lamb Sale
With 100% clearance the Scottish Clubs annual Show and Sale of
Texel In Lamb females in January was a great success.
The judge
Andrew Johnstone, Carleith awarded the championship to an outstanding
gimmer sired by Scrogtonhead Our Willie from the Mitchelhill flock
of Angus Kennedy which realised 4,000gns to Graham Morrison, Inchbruich
Farm, Cornhill, Banff.
The reserve was awarded to Robert Cockburns
Connachan flock with a gimmer by Garngour Onyx wich realised 1900gns
to A Mawson, Bridgewater Farm, Booyle, Cumbria. Another gimmer
from the Mitchelhill flock was sold for 1800gns, sired by the Scrogtonhead
Ram again this one was purchased by Messrs WW & D Boow, Coreny
Hall, Millom, Cumbria.
At 1600gns John Forsyth’s Glenside flock
sold their Knock Prestige sired gimmer to R Pateman, Hungate Farm,
Brompton by Sawden, Scarbrough. A Wallace Blairchinnoch Whauphill,
Newton Stuart secured the next Connachan Gimmer at 1,500gns this
one sired by Tophill Landmark.
The 2 ewes averaged £414.74, 42 Gimmers
averaged £728 with the 2 ewe lambs levelling at £325.50.
Also on
the day was the reduction of the Cauldcoats Flock on behalf of
the executors of the late David Arkley where the 35 Ewes and
Gimmers levelled at £540.59. Top price was a 2 crop ewe by Baltier
Lightning which realised 2,200gns to Stewart Barclay, Harestones,
Banchory.
The Northhouse Flock the property of Messrs J Hepburn & Co
was also dispersed with the 24 Ewes and Gimmers levelling at £442.50
with a top price of 1150gns for a daughter of Cambwell Kingpin
purchased by Peter Gascoigne, Gascoigne Farm, Broughton. [report]

Scottish Club AGM Report
The Scottish Texel Sheep Breeders Club held it's AGM on Tuesday
18th January 2011 at Lanark Agricultural Centre.
The outgoing Chairman gave his report and thanked all the members
for their support over the last 2 years, and wished the club success
in the future.
Our New chairman is Kenny Johnston of the Boghouse Flock, and
vice chairman is Callum Wight of the Coulterallers Flock. Both
David Arkley and David Cunningham stepped down from the committee
and were replaced by Andrew Johnston of the Bogend Flock and John
McKerrow of the Grougfoot Flock.

After the AGM there was a short talk by Rod McKenzie of
the Sheep Srategy on the benefits of Recording.
After this
talk we had a very entertaining evening with the "Weakest
Link", once again chaired by Lawrie and Symingtons very own
Andrew (Ann Robinson) Barrie. Our thanks must go to our panel
of .... Peter Gray, William Fleming, Jim Reid, David Arkley, Dougie
Fleming, Caroline Currie, Carol Ann Warnock, Kate Retson
The eventual winner was Caroline Currie.
