South Wales Club AGM 2011
The Club held its AGM at Cwmcynnon, Llwyndafydd
on 14th May 2011 with Trudy and Jim Davies, Trujim. Jim’s parents
had bought the Farm in the mid 60’s as a dairy unit. The Dairy
herd was sold in the mid ‘90’s and suckler cows, pedigree and crossbred
ewes, chickens and miniature horses have all been introduced to
replace them over time.

| Younger ewes and lambs by Trujim Nighthawk
and Courthill Premier II |
The pedigree flock were on fields
according to the sire of the lambs. The first batch we saw were
by the stock tup of the Goldies flock Livery Predator. He is by
Tamnamoney Ned, that we saw on the Club trip to Northern Ireland
in 2009. Ned is also the sire of Forkins Rocksolid 65,000gns top
price Lanark 2010. The lambs were well grown and had excellent
hind quarters.
Next were more lambs got by AI. This time by Larkhill
Paddy’s Pride, stock tup at Ballynadrenta for the Hamills. He puts
a strong bone and power into his lambs and the likely RWS ewe lamb
was also seen in this batch.
 |
| Lambs by Tophill Regal |
The last batch close to were
those by Tophill Regal. He is by Knock Orion and was bought from
Carlisle. Whilst not tipping the scales as much as the previous
lambs would, there were some striking heads on display in this
lot.
 |
| Yearling Ewes |
After a quick view of the shearling tups
and ewes we saw Courthill Premier II and Trujim Nighthawk before
walking across the road to view lambs by them. We also saw the
commercial flock of Texel cross Suffolk ewes with their second
cross Texel lambs.
