Press Release from National Sheep Association
National Sheep Association Appoints new Chief Executive
Officer
National Sheep Association (NSA) has appointed Philip Stocker
as its new Chief
Executive Officer in succession to Peter Morris.
Philip Stocker
joins NSA from the Soil Association where he worked for 14 years,
the last 3 years as Director of Farmer and Grower relations. He
brings to NSA a
wealth of industry experience and knowledge.
NSA Honorary Treasurer
David Croston MBE chaired the process to find a new
CEO and expressed delight at the outcome. He said
‘We have undertaken an extremely rigorous and open process to make
this
appointment which is of vital importance to NSA. There was an excellent
selection of quality applicants to interview which demonstrates
how highly NSA is
regarded within the industry. We are all delighted with this result
and are
confident that Phil will build on the progress that has been made
within the
association in recent years.'
Phil’s passion for the sheep industry
combined with his experience in a
membership organisation and strong negotiation skills will stand
him in good
stead and ensure NSA’s continued success as a leading industry
organisation on
behalf of its members.
Director of the Soil Association, Helen Browning
added:
'Although we are incredibly sorry to be losing Phil's great expertise
and
leadership of our farmer and grower work, we are really pleased
that he is going
on to such a fascinating new role. I know that Phil will provide
outstanding
leadership for the NSA, and I look forward to exploring ways in
which our two
organisations can work together in the future.'
Phil Stocker reflected
how happy he was to have been offered the role by saying
I am honoured to take this role within the NSA and look forward
to it with
enthusiasm and commitment, building on the great work that has
been done
previously. Sheep farming will have challenges to face, but I believe
there is even
more in the way of opportunities and I look forward to meeting
as many members
as possible to make sure the NSA continues to provide the leadership
and
support the industry needs.
Phil Stocker will commence in his new
role in November 2011. |
