British Texel Society Embraces Social Media
The British Texel Sheep Society, the UK’s largest breed society
is embracing the world of social media, with the Society now to
be found on Facebook and Twitter.
Society chief executive John Yates
said the move to social media was part of the long-term strategy
to engage with members and non-members alike and ensure the continued
promotion of the breed.
“The importance of social media in the modern
world cannot be underestimated and the Society’s presence on both
Facebook and Twitter will help communicate important messages from
the Society to a worldwide audience.
“These two social media networks
will also be used to give real-time coverage from Society sales
and other major events, helping members unable to attend to stay
up to date with the latest news as it happens.”
A number of members
have been using Facebook proactively to promote their flocks over
the last few years and hopefully the Society’s presence can help
raise the breed’s profile even further, he added.
