Christmas Cracker Gimmers Go With a Bang at 10,000gns
Texel gimmer trade was on explosive form at Carlisle on Friday evening (7 December) for the Christmas Cracker sale.
Leading the prices at 10,000gns was a gimmer from John Forsyth's Glenside flock, Maybole, Ayrshire.
Mr Forsyth's pen and sale leader was a daughter of 10,000gns 2009 Sire of the Year Strathbogie Python. This gimmer, FPG1100267, is out of a Muiresk Nearco daughter and goes back to 120,000gns sire Loosebeare Imp. She sold in-lamb to Mellor Vale The One and headed home with Alasdair Beaton, Slamannan, Falkirk.
Taking the evening's second top price of 8500gns was one from Albert and George Howie’s Knock flock, Mintlaw. The Knock pen topper was HAK1100227, a daughter of Cambwell Rob Roy and out of a dam by Anglezarke Krug. She goes back to Muiresk Heir Apparent and was sold in-lamb to Sportsman’s Supreme. Buying her was an undisclosed buyer.
Aberdeenshire-based James Innes and Sons then paid 8000gns for a gimmer from fellow Aberdeenshire breeder Gaham Morrison’s Deveronvale flock. This Glenside Razzle Dazzle daughter, MGV1100178, is out of a dam by 21,000gns Glenside Lieutenant. She also goes back to Muiresk Heir Apparent and was sold in-lamb to Strathbogie Terminator.
Then taking a 4200gns bid was another from Graham Morrision and another by 40,000gns sire Razzle Dazzle. This gimmer, MGV1100134, is ET bred out of a dam by Haddo Jogger. She also sold carrying to the privately purchased Strathbogie Terminator and was bought by John Forsyth, Glenside.
Following that Albert and George Howie were in the money again at 4000gns when selling a gimmer by Knock Papoose, HAK1100277. Another bred by ET she is out of the same Anglezarke Krug sired dam as the earlier 8500gns gimmer and sold in-lamb to Sportsman’s Trojan II. She was knocked down to Robert Henderson, Stocksfield On Tyne.
And just shy of that at 3800gns was a Rascarrel gimmer from the MacTaggart family, Castle Douglas. This one, which was bought by Alasdair Beaton, was MTR1100236, a Didcot Record Breaker daughter out of a dam by Mattadale On Top. She sold in-lamb to homebred tup Rascarrel Och Aye.
The next best call was a 3500gns bid for another from Graham Morrison, Deveronvale. This was MGV1100182 another by the 40,000gns Razzle Dazzle and this time out of of a dam by Glenside Likeable. Sold in-lamb to 15,000gns Lanark purchase Hen Gapel Thunder she was claimed by Charlie Boden, Cheshire.

She sold having been AI’d to 20,000gns sire Sportsman’s Trojan II and was bought by Irena Lewis, Llandysul.
