MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK SALES
SHOW AND SALE OF TEXEL SHEEP
Monday 30th SEPTEMBER 2002

Markethill Livestock Mart hosted the N.I. Texel Sheep Breeders Club first Show and Sale at the centre on Monday 30th September 2002.

Judging was in the hands of Barclay Bell of Rathfriland, who chose a ram lamb from James Morgan, Jerrettspass as Show Champion with reserve Champion awarded to I Skillen, Ballymartin, Co Down for a Shearling Ram.

Purchasers from throughout the province travelled to secure stock, particularly the better quality rams. Ram lambs peaked at 405 guineas with several more from 240 to 340 guineas. Shearling rams sold up to 350 guineas with quality lots from 180 to 300 guineas. Shearling ewes sold readily from 110 guineas to 170 guineas with ewe lambs from 100 to 155 guineas.
