<< Back

There was a catalogued entry of 1354 shearling rams and ram lambs in the three Texel sale rings at the NSA sale held at Builth Wells on 23rd September 2002, which met a good, steady commercial trade.

Caebetran Invinsible, overall champion
Cennen Hi-Spec, 1st prize shearling ram

With breeders selectively picking up category 1 genotyped ram lambs to a top of 950 gns given by Drayton Farm Partnership for M & S Jones' Racecourse Ice-Cream, an un-placed late February born twin by Millend Gilt Edged out of a Highfields Award dam.

The champion lamb changed hands at 775 gns, bid by G Green, Leicester, for Invinsible, a single lamb from the Caebetran flock of G & H Davies. Genotyped ARH/ARH, he was out of a homebred ewe by Rascarell Grain.

Top price of the day was bid by High Peak, Derbyshire farmers, P F & S Mellor, who gave 1,650 gns for Millend Hi-Light from breeders R M & G L Watkins. A March single lamb and genotyped ARR/ARR, Hi-Lite was by Brookvale Gold Charm out of a Tophill Capital bred ewe.

Top priced shearling ewe was C S Ponting & Co's ARR/ARH triplet, Penstones PCP01 004, a daughter of Kirtle Deputy out of a Penstones ewe by Blackfoot, which went to the flock of M W Hamer at Skelton in Yorkshire for 950 gns.
