Supreme Champion sells to 18,000gns

Willie Knox of Fyvie, Turriff showed the Supreme Champion Haddo Kerfuffle and then sold the ARR/ARR Scrapie Genotyped lamb for 18,000gns back to Scottish breeder DM Milne of Forfar. Kerfuffle was a Craighead Hercules son, out of a Glenside Drum Major daughter, who had herself been successful in the show ring.

The second top price of the day also went to Willie Know, for Haddo Kinship, again genotyped ARR/ARR, this second Craighead Hercules son was out of a Kirtle Banker daughter. He was full brother to the third prize gimmer at the RHAS and Turriff Show Champion 2003. He was knocked down to Messrs AE Williams and Son, of Craven Arms, Shropshire.

Mr J & Mrs GY Davies then offered their ARR/ARR ram lamb Aman Ken Annuyl by Muiresk Forever and out of a homebred Aman Hen Annwyl daughter he was finally sold for 5,100gns to Mr WJ Winkworth of Chumleigh in Devon.

Meanwhile HJ & JR Draper sold Clayburn Keagan another ARR/ARR typed ram lamb. This time out of a Claybury Falcon daughter and by Haddo Ignitor. At 3,800gns he went home with Simon Farmer to Drayton Farm, East Meon.

The Drapers also received a good return of 3,400gns for their Humeston Juniper son, out of another Muiresk Forever daughter; Claybury Kilpatrick, scrapie genotyped ARR/ARR. He sold to Messrs TD Orrells & Sons of Montgomery, Powys.

Colin G Mair and Partners sold Muiresk King Kenny, ARR/ARR, for 3,100gns. Sired by Highland Show Champion Loosebeare Imp, and out of a Turin Fantastic daughter who is full ET sister to 11,000gns ram Muiresk Grand Slam. The successful bidder was Mr JA Wright of Ludlow, Shropshire.

In again at 2,600gns, the Drapers were still well up on the average prices, Clayburn Knight, ARR/ARR, another Humeston Juniper son out of an Annan Gold Digger daughter, who had been placed first at the RWAS 2002 and was also the dam of Claybury Jaguar who was sold in 2003 for 14,000gns. Knight was sold to Messrs S Evans of Llanddarog, Carmarthen.

Shearling Section

Top price in the Shearling lines went to Colin Mair and Partners for Muiresk JP – ARR/ARR – he was out of a Glenside Forsyth daughter and by Wartle Goliath ‘a massive ram’. He sold at 2,700gns to Messrs R&B Smith of Towcester, Northants.

Second best price in this section went to Peacehay Johnny Walker from Frank Henry Chave & Son. Again ARR/ARR genotyped, he was by Cambwell Emperor Second and out of a Milnbank Easter Promise daughter; the same ewe line as the first prize ewe lamb at the RASE. He was snapped up at 2,300gns by Messrs NE & JA Gibbs of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Messrs Quick had travelled up from Crediton in Devon to sell Loosebeare Jackpot for 2,100gns. By homebred ram Handsome, and out of a Cambwell Ally dam, Jackpot ARR/ARR had won first prize at the Royal Cornwall Show earlier in the year. He was sold to M&G Roberts, another Shrewsbury, Shropshire enthusiast.

Meanwhile the first prize shearling ram sold for 1,890gns. Another offering from the Quick family, Loosebeare Jeremy, genotypes ARR/ARQ out of Llanthomas Bogart and sired by Winkleigh Falcon, Jeremy had won Male Champion at Devon County Show in 2004. He was finally knocked down to Mr J Winkworth of Chumleigh, Devon.

Female Section

The Reserve Supreme Champion and Female Champion came from Gordon Gray’s Ettrick flock. Genotyped ARR/ARH this Clinterty Impressive daughter out of a Haramar Eiger dam, sold for 3,800gns to Messrs J&P Vaughan of Leominster, Herefordshire.

Second top in the female lines was a shearling ewe from Peter Woof’s Stainton flock. ARR/ARR, she was by Haddo Innocent and out of a Tophill Eugene daughter. She sold for 1,300gns to S&C Currie of Settle, North Yorkshire for their Beautry flock.

Close behind at 1,200gns was KA&R Campbell’s offering from their Cowal flock. ARR/ARH, this Castlecairn Irn Brui daughter, the sire having been purchased for 52,000gns, and was out of a Muiresk Gulliver female. Successful purchaser was Mrs SI Lewis of Rhos, Llandysul.
