Carlisle
Gimmers from John Forsyth’s Glenside
flock, from Maybole, led the way at the December sale
of in-lamb Texel females, at Carlisle. Mr Forsyth was
the only consignor to hit four-figures, with four Glenside
sheep selling at or above 1000gns. [report]
Skipton
Back-to-back championship wins were achieved
by Wharfedale husband and wife farmers Mark and Helen
Keighley at the 14th annual winter sale of pedigree
Texel females at Craven Cattle Marts’ Skipton
Auction Mart on Saturday 2nd December. [report]
Ulster In-lamb Sale
With added spice in the form of bidders from
the Irish Republic trade was extra brisk at the Northern
Ireland Texel Sheep Breeders’ Club In Lamb Show
and Sale hosted by Dungannon Farmers’ Mart on Friday
December 1st. [report]
Llandovery
The trend of the 2006 sales continued at the second
Friday evening Club sale at Llandovery on 29th September.
There were many not sold, but those of sufficient
quality for discerning commercial buyers were singled
out and made decent prices. [report]
NSA Builth Wells
A record price of 6,200 guineas was
achieved during a day of strong trading at the NSA
Wales and Border Ram Sale at Builth Wells. There was
a definite buzz on the Royal Welsh Showground from
early on as buyers arrived early to select from more
than 8,000 rams of 40 different breeds in 20 different

Brian Hanthorn of Tynan topped the Northern Ireland
Texel Club Main Show and Sale in Dungannon on Saturday
September 9th, when his aptly named ram lamb Mullan
Money Spinner sold for 6,000gns. [report]
Builth Wells
A good sale, a great buzz, and the right
venue set the scene at the Welsh National Texel Show
and sale, where the Haddo Jogger bloodlines once again
dominated the show ring. [report]
Lanark
Prices peaked at a respectable 21,000gns on two occasions
at the Scottish National Show & Sale at Lanark
with a further nine, five-figure transactions. [report]
Worcester
A top price of 12,000 guineas for a Goldies ram lamb
with an index of 305 was the highlight of the AMC National
Texel Show and Sale at Worcester. [report]
Dungannon
There were gasps of amazement as bids went
at 2000 and 3000 gns a time to realise a record price
of 30,000gns at the British Texel Society’s Northern
Bank Premier show and sale in Dungannon. [report]
Lanark
Two in-lamb gimmers from Graham Morrison’s Deveronvale
flock, based at Inchbruich, Cornhill, Banff, led the
way at the Scottish Premier sale of Texel females,
at Lanark Market on 7th January. [report]
