RAM LAMBS TO 28,000GNS AT DUNGANNON
An outstanding trade at the British Texel Society’s
Northern Bank Premier show and sale in Dungannon
on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th August 2007 saw
a top bid of 28,000gns paid for a ram lamb from Alistair
Gault’s
flock at Newtownabbey.
Forkins Nijinsky is by Douganhill
McFly, a Glenside King 2 son purchased by a consortium
which included Alistair Gault last year at Lanark.
His dam is by Knock Impulse which is famous for having
sired the highest priced ram lamb in the UK, Tophill
Joe for 122,000gns. Forkins Nijinsky was purchased
by Tom Bailey from Co. Meath who has sold record
priced Texels himself and who is a regular buyer
at the Dungannon event having purchased the supreme
champion last year.

grandson by a Stonefield Grand Champion dam is a
full brother of Castleknowe Matchmaker which made
history at last year’s event selling for a

Rams from John Currie’s Tullagh flock at Ballymena
may have missed a trip to Lanark but they made a
very worthwhile trip to Dungannon for the British
Texel Society’s Premier show and sale, taking
the supreme champion of the show and the reserve
champion awards.
Judge, David Milne from Forfar in
Angus selected Tullagh Neptune for his supreme champion.
Tullagh Neptune is by Castlecairn Keltic Star which
bred the shearling ewe sold at Lanark for 17,000gns.
His twin sister is the top index lamb in the Tullagh
flock. Tullagh Neptune is out of a Tullagh Kentucky
daughter, Kentucky was champion at Balmoral in 2004.
Neptune went south of the border selling to a Galway
consortium of Walsh, Kelly and Niland.
