Ruthin Texel Club Show & Sale 2007

The Ruthin Texel Breeder's Club received 572 entries for the 20th Annual Show and Sale held on 10th September 2007. As in previous sales, the quality of sheep forward was of the highest standard and this was reflected in the prices realised.

The judge was Mr Martin Jones, Lower Forest, Racecourse, Oswestry and he awarded the prizes as follows:

Class 1 - Shearling Rams

1st & RESERVE CHAMPION - 'Erw Merlin' from G W Jones, Erw Texels, Gwyddelwern, Corwen and sold to E A G Roberts, Solfach, Aberdaron, Pwllheli for 650gns
2nd - 'Trefonnen Montgomery' from Roy Hughes, Trefonnen Texels', Oswestry and sold to Coed Coch Home Farm, Dolwen, Abergele for 420gns
3rd - 'Kitrob Muscle Boy' from R E & D R Jones, 'Kitrob Texels', Pencaenewydd, Pwllheli and sold to T Roberts, Gorswen, Llanrwst for 460gns.

Class 2 - Ram Lambs

1st & SHOW CHAMPION - 'Beidwen Nemesis' from Eiddwen Jones, 'Beidwen Texels', Llansannan, Denbigh and purchased jointly by G V Hardwick & Son, 'Talcoed Texels', Llandrindod Wells and Mr J A Wright, 'Hayton Texels', Ludlow for 4,000gns.
2nd - 'Penpadrig Neptune' from John S Raffle, 'Penpadrig Texels', Carreglefn, Amlwch, Anglesey and later sold to judge Mr Martin Jones, Lower Forest Farm, Racecourse, Oswestry for 780gns.
3rd - 'Trefonnen New' from Roy Hughes, 'Trefonnen Texels' Oswestry and sold to Mr Hughes, Gallt y Gorslwyd, Rhos y Bol, Amlwch for 480gns.

Class 3 - Shearling Ewes

1st - Awarded to Eurgain Jones, 'Beidiog Texels', Llansannan, Denbigh and sold to John S Raffle, Penpadrig, Carreglefn, Amlwch for 950gns
2nd - Awarded to J Thomas, 'Bryn Garth Texels', Llanerchymedd, Anglesey and sold to A G Hughes & G M Roberts, Llwyn Gwnadl Uchaf, Clynnog Fawr, Caernarfon for 400gns.
3rd - Awarded to John Morris, 'Green Texels', Llanfachraeth, Holyhead, Anglesey and sold to R Evans & Son, Rhosbadrig, Ty Croes, Anglesey for 320gns.

Sale Averages were:

167 Shearling Rams from 75 to 1,350 ave. 338.26gns 
150 Ram Lambs from 100 to 4,600 ave. 308.07gns
  30 Shearling Ewes from 100 to 1,120 ave. 270.55gns
347 Total Sold
