Scottish In-Lamb Sale sees top of 2800gns for Deveronvale

Aberdeenshire Texel breeder, Graham Morrison who owns the Deveronvale flock at Inchbruich, Cornhill, Banff, went home in style from the Scottish National in-lamb Texel sale at Lanark having sold the top priced lot at 2800gns.

Reserve Supreme show Champion from Graham Morrison, Deveronvale (MGV06153), sold for top price of the day at 2800gns.

His leader, the second prize gimmer and reserve overall, having stood second in it’s class to the champion, is by Glenside Lieutenant and out of a bought in ewe by Muiresk Heir Apparent. She sold served to the Glenside Minstrel son, Combs Valley Nistleroy, to an undisclosed buyer from Northern Ireland.

The show Champion, Glenside (FPG06819) from John Forsyth sold for 1700gns.

John Forsyth’s Glenside flock from Maybole, again proved a force to be reckoned with in the show and the sale ring having produced the overall champion and second top priced lot at 1700gns. Selling at this mark to Welsh breeder C Jones, Tynant, was a gimmer by Castlecairn Keltic Star out of a home-bred ewe by Claybury Invader. The service sire was Baileys Money Maker.

Also hitting the headlines as a vendor this time was Robert Cockburn who sold two gimmers at 900gns from his relatively young Connachan flock from Connachan, Crieff, Perthshire.

First to make the money was the sixth prize gimmer, a daughter of Durisdeer Lotus out of a bought-in ewe by Tapanui Incredible. She sold carrying twins to Hull House Nijinsky, to local breeder, KR Gauld, Cairn Farm, Auchterarder.

David Gray also got in on the action, buying back some of the family’s Ettrick bloodlines in the second 900gns Connachan gimmer. This was the fourth prize gimmer, also by Durisdeer Lotus but out of a Ettrick-bred female by Crookholm Impresario that had been bought at the anniversary sale at Crieff Hydro for 1500gns. She changed hands in lamb to Midlock Nutcracker.

On the other side of the coin, lot 13 proved anything but unlucky for David, Isla and Lisa Gray, who own the Tima flock which runs alongside the Ettrick flock at Lindean, Selkirk, when they received 620gns for a gimmer by Cornerstone King. Hugh McPhee, North Lodge, Kilmarnock, forked out the cash for this female out of a Halbeath-bred ewe and in lamb to Teilo Mathonwy.
