Early NSA Sale - Builth Wells
Monday 4th August 2008
Dulais take top price, King of Clubs blood features strongly
The
first leg of the Eurwyn and Bernadette Morgan’s flock dispersal
started with a sale topping four figure price at the Builth leg
of the early NSA sale on the 4th August 2008. The Dulais name is
of course very well known in Builth, Bernadette Morgan’s late father
Vincent had been a pioneer of the breed in West Wales and had many
successes there. More recently her husband Eurwyn has been the
Board member for the area.

The day stared well for the Morgans as they took first place in
the shearling ram class and overall champion in the show. The tup
was bred by fellow club members Gwyn and Hazel Davies (Caebetran)
and had been bought in the very same shed at last October’s main
NSA sale. Caebetran Noble was by Mortimer Kremlin out of a Garth
Lwyd Evangelist ewe and sold for the day’s best price of 1,000gns.
They also notched up the second highest price for a shearling at
710gns. Dulais Napoleon being by Loosebeare Lone Ranger, a King
of Clubs son, out of a Penstones ewe by Penstones Ibex.
Also performing
well in the shearling tup section were the Chave family selling
Peacehay Night Napper for 700gns, being a Douganhill Lonestar son
out of a King of Clubs dam and the Quick family matching this price
with a direct son of King of Clubs out of a Haddo Hammer ewe. Second
in the show of shearlings was fellow West countryman Charles Watts
of Rowden with Rowden New Boy, a Haddo Matador son which sold for
520gns. Third placed was the Farmer’s with Meon Hill Napoleon a
Summerwood Grand Union son which also sold for that price.
Tullagh
Kite selling for 420gns to Mr Orrells of Llegodig. Topping the
trade, securing the second best price of the day at 800gns and
second in the show were the Farmers with Meon Valley Marmaduke
a Miserden Kracker son out of a Kite Hells Angel dam. They also
took third place and the next best price for an aged ram with Tyrcan
Mynydd. He was bought by them in the mian NSA two years ago from
club members Hywel and Nia Davies and was breed champion at Hampshire
show in 2007. By Aman Ken Annwyl and out of a Cwmcerrig ewe by
Glenside Forsyth he went on to new breeders the Williams’s of Blackmill
for 650gns.
There were few females forward, but having the best
of an otherwise lacklustre trade were the Chave’s with two from
King of Clubs at 500gns. One of whom was the first prize ewe and
reserve champion overall. They also sold a Lonestar daughter out
of a King of Clubs dam at 400gns. She had been placed second by
immediate past Club Chairman Gwyn Davies (Trefere) who judged the
show.
