21st Annual Show & Sale
Sunday 7th and Monday 8th September 2008
The confidence shown by breeders in the Texel was evident with
high demand on all sheep at the Ruthin Texel Breeders’ Club Show
and Sale held at Ruthin Auction on Sunday 7th and Monday 8th September
2008.
Top price of the day was £4,620 when breeder Charlie Boden, ‘Sportsmans’
flock, Mellor purchased the Show champion ‘Hen Gapel On your Nelly’
which was shown by J L Owen, Hen Gapel, Ynys Mon. The sire was
‘Hen Gapel Masterpiece’ and the dam was ‘Fachell Instinct’.
The Reserve Show Champion went to ‘Never Say Die’ shown by D & D
Oliver, ‘Marchlyn’ flock, Bangor which went on to sell for £3,150
during Monday’s sale.
Local breeder Myfyr Evans, Tan yr Accar also sold his Ram lamb
‘Accar Owain’ for one of the highest prices of the day at £3,150.
The sire was ‘Cosyn Noble’ which was last year’s highest price
at £4,830.

Bangor with ‘Never Say Die’ which sold for £3,150 to R A Morris,
Pen Coed, Llannefydd and R & E Owen, ‘Llwydfaen’, Conwy.
2nd – O Williams, ‘Plas Cwtta’, Llannefydd, Denbigh which sold
for £567 to D W & A Roberts & Son, Ty Draw, Holywell.
3rd – G W Jones, Nant Erw Haidd, Gwyddelwern, Corwen with ‘Erw
Newton’ which sold for £756 to G G & N A Rees, Highfield Fawr,
Marchwiel, Wrexham.
Class 2 - Ram Lambs
1st and Show Champion - J L Owen, ‘Hen Gapel’, Ynys Mon with ‘On
Your Nelly’ which sold for £4,620 to Charlie Boden, ‘Sportsman’
flock, Stockport
2nd – T A & A R Laird, ‘Cambwell’, Lanarkshire with ‘Cambwell
Ontario’ which sold for £472.50 to P Melland, New House Farm, Satffordshire.
3rd – M A Evans, ‘Accar’, Denbigh with ‘Accar Owain’ which sold
for £3,150 to G Jones, Ty Coch, Llangollen.
Class 3 - Shearling Ewes
1st – I Morris, ‘Fachellt’, Caernarfon which sold for £672 to W
P & C Parry, Bercyn, Criccieth.
2nd – Eurgain Jones, ‘Beidiog’, Llansannan, Denbigh who sold for
£630 to E Evans, Ty Mawr, Llanrhaeadr, Denbigh
3rd – J & H Thomas, , ‘Bryn Garth’, Ynys Mon who sold for £861
to G Jones, Ty Coch, Llangollen.
