MILLARS CHAMPION AT NORTHERN BANK NORTHERN IRELAND NATIONAL TEXEL SHOW AND SALE

Judge Charlie Boden, Stockport, Cheshire, had a difficult task selecting his Champion from strong classes at the Northern Bank Texel Premier Show and Sale in Dungannon on Thursday past. Eventually it was a Cambwell OBE son, Millar’s Professor bred from the ever successful flock of Martin and Cyril Millar, Coleraine. Placed first in the Open ram Lamb Class he went on to win the Male Championship and eventually the Overall Champion of Show. This lamb’s sire was purchased at Lanark for 10,000gns at the National sale 2008.

Just pipped to the post by Millar’s Professor, John Foster’s shearling ram Springhill Onslow, a Ballynadrenta Nicefella son, was awarded the Reserve champion of show having previously taken first place in his class and reserve Male Champion.

The female Championship and Best opposite sex to the Champion awards went to the Curley flock shown by John Trimble, Newry for his Ballydonaghy Nijinsky daughter which later went on to sell for 3,600gns second highest price in the shearling ewe section.

The Novice Ram Lamb Class was won by D&J Boyd, with Crawfordsland Paddy Power while the recorded Ram Lamb class was won by Dunore Polonius, a Curley O’Kelly son shown by W&S Mackey, Antrim.
