Einon take Championship at early NSA
2nd August 2010
Irena Lewis, fresh from her excellent performance at the Royal
Welsh and double at Cardigan County (taking the Interbreed Single
and Group of Three Championships) again took the tricoloured ribbons
at the early NSA. It was her aged tup Hull House Off the Rails that show Judge Roland Watkins (Cwmcerrig) chose as his Champion.
The two year old tup by Castleknowe Matchmaker out a Brague Inquirer
Grougfoot dam sold for 700gns to Carmarthen breeder Wayne Phillips
(Townswood).
Barbara Smith (Slapton) took first place in the shearling section
with Slapton Phoenix. South Wales blood lines were very evident
in the tup as he is by Ffostyll Oscar out of a Furzy Kupid dam.
It was a different tup from Slapton though that sold for the day’s
top price of 1,150gns to Club member Adrian Windsor (Fern). He
was by Lyonshall Lotus, a Haddo Jogger son out of a Muiresk J.P.
dam.
Happy Farmers were Simon Farmer and family (Meon Valley). In
the pre sale show they took the female championship and reserve
overall with a gimmer under the Meon Down prefix. She is by Beautry
Kilarney out of a Meon Hill ewe by Stainton King Pin. She proceeded
to top the female trade at 520gns selling to Club stalwart Jim
Jones TV’s (Preswylfa). Next in the ring from the Farmer’s was
another Kilarney gimmer selling for 370gns. In the male section
they sold Meon Valley Porthos for 880gns. Obviously feeling flush
from their show and sale successes they then gave 900gns for
the top priced aged tup Loosebeare On Your Marks. Loosebeare
also sold a tup with South Wales bloodlines for the second top
price of the day, getting 950gns for Loosebeare Prize Guy, a Cennen Magnum son.
