Quality Texel Breeding in Demand at Shrewsbury
Tuesday 26th November 2011
The ongoing strong demand for top quality Texel females proved
itself again at Shrewsbury at the major reduction of James and
Hannah Draper’s Claybury flock which also hosted drafts from Messrs
Quick’s Loosebeare flock and Trinidad Investments Colwood and High
Weald flocks.
Taking the top price of 2200gns was a 2008-born daughter of Castlecairn
Keltic Star from the Drapers, DHL08105. This one is out of a homebred
dam by Green Golden Boy and is a maternal sister to 22,000gns Claybury
Kruger. She was sold in lamb to 14,000gns Clinterty Samba I and
headed home with Richard Wilson, Eden Valley.
Next top on the day was a Summerwood Grand Union daughter, QEL1000006,
from the draft from Messrs Quick’s Loosebeare flock at 2000gns.
This shearling ewe is out of a Douganhill Ferrari dam which has
bred sons to 5000gns and is full ET sister to six retained females.
Snapping up this one were John and Sarah Williams for their Honeyhill
flock, Kimbolton, and was in lamb to Loosebeare Rebel.
Following on from that was a 1900gns call for another from Loosebeare,
QEL1000005, this was a full sister to the 2000gns shearling. She
was again in lamb to Loosebeare Rebel and sold to J N Ellis, Kenley.
And at 1700gns was a 2008-born full ET bred sister to the top
priced lot from the Drapers, DHL08110. This one sold in lamb to
Claybury Rocky Balboa and was taken home by Messrs Campbell, Eire.
Then making 1100gns was a 2008-born daughter of Hexel Lexus out
of a Humeston Jupiter daughter, DHL08054. She’s maternal sister
to a ewe sold for 6000gns and was in-lamb to 3400gns Strathbogie
Stonker. Buying her were S P and C P Williams, Shrewsbury, for
the Wollascott flock.
Selling for 1000gns after that was another of the Loosebeare shearlings,
QEL1000307, this time a Caebetran Orchid daughter out of a dam
by Loosebeare Knight Rider. She is maternal sister to a successful
show ewe and was bought by Messrs Williams again, this time carrying
lambs to homebred sire Loosebeare Priceless.
And a pair then sold to 900gns, with the first being a Loosebeare
Oh Yes-sired shearling from the Quicks, QEL1000266. This one is
out of a dam by Winkleigh Falcon and sold to G R and E W Davies,
Balla, in lamb to Loosebeare Priceless.
The other at this money was a recipient carrying embryos from
Claybury. The dam of these, DHL04003, was a Haddo Igniter daughter,
out of a dam by Muiresk Forever, with the sire of the embryos being
Clinerty Samba I. Buying these was Jack Arnott, Kelso, for the
Haymount flock.
