Texel takes interbreed championship at Newark and Notts
Show
Having taken the breed championship at one of the first shows of
the season, Newark and Notts (held 8th and 9th May), Frank Rushton
went one better to secure the overall interbreed championship.
The winner, a shearling ewe by the homebred tup Fresh Fields Outstander and out of a homebred ewe by Clinterty Impressive, is one of the 22
ewes run under the Freshfields prefix, by Derbyshire-based Mr Rushton,
who is a slaughter man by trade. This is the first outing for the
ewe as she wasn’t shown as a ewe lamb and will next be competing
at Cheshire County Show.
Taking the reserve spot in the breed section was Driffield, East
Yorkshire-based AJ and JM Chapman with their shearling ram.
